sigh....
for once, why don't they ever interview someone who's actually IN the process of trying to get a job as a forensic scientist? someone like me or the other jobless graduate students, rather than some bright eye'd wanna be that watches too much CSI and thinks that her job is to ALWAYS catch the criminal. you know, there ARE innocent people that need to be exonerated through evidence too.
oh you wanna know the truth about everything? what it takes?
1) if you didn't like chemistry or biology in school, still don't like it, and will complain about how you aren't good at it then this is the wrong fucking job for you.
2) better get used to taking tests, LOTS of them. and this isn't including the tests you'll take to get an interview or the tests you'll take to move up forensic scientist/criminalist tiers. you'll also do proficiency tests in every type of analyses you're trained in, EVERY YEAR.
3) better take some graduate classes that has to do with forensics. honestly i don't think a general chem or bio degree is going to help you to answer the "you have a bloody footprint at a crime scene. 1) what do you tell the investigator at the scene? 2) how is the footprint important 3) how would you process the footprint at the scene? and 4) how would you do a comparison back at the lab?" question on your interview.
oh in other news, i finally figured out how to do the lj cut CORRECTLY. sorry about that.
